The Jeanie Johnston Chronicle

Launch Day 3 - Wednesday, 20th April, 2000

Jeanie Johnston

Wednesday morning again dawned with gale force winds and stormy seas. It was decided to postpone Jeanie's journey to Fenit until the next high tide, in 2 week's time, as the journey was too hazardous in the present weather conditions. There was also the possibility of damaging the sunken shipwreck in the Bay.

Jeanie Johnston rests on her barge awaiting a high tide and favourable weather conditions The Jeanie Johnston presently rests on her barge, awaiting a high tide and favourable weather conditions. She will then go to Fenit for fitting and rigging, after which she will undergo her sea trials.
More pictures and eye-witness descriptions of this historic event will be available here as they unfold......
